How COVID-19 Has Affected Me as a Sports Fan

I really wanted to type this out once the NBA season got postponed because of Rudy Gobert’s positive test for COVID-19. As soon as I heard that, I never feared the worst. What really pisses me off about this pandemic is that it affects a certain amount of people and we are taking everything way too cautiously. I get it, we don’t want it to spread. But what it does to me as a fan of all sports is that it shut down everything from basketball, to hockey and March Madness. It hit me once the NHL postponed the rest of the regular season when I was getting ready to see the Vegas Golden Knights against the Minnesota Wild.
As a sports fan, this pandemic has made me depressed and angry that there is no sports on TV. Sports are my outlet; watching games, looking at box scores. That’s my M.O. It is my love and passion. Now that they’re not on TV or live somewhere, what do I do? I can’t even go to the gym and listen to a game or turn on ESPN Radio and listen to a game. Heck, I can’t even go to the community center to shoot hoops!
It really is a pain and it hurts me mentally and emotionally, but we need to get through this pandemic together and not spread it. Sports will return, but its not the most important thing at this point.
